“Shimabuku: Do Snow Monkeys Remember Snow Mountains?”

Shimabuku’s site-specific works are influenced both by place and by the lives and cultures of the people who live there. His performances, films, sculptures, and installations challenge the relationships between creatures and humans by establishing new languages and communication channels. His presentation “Do Snow Monkeys Remember Snow Mountains?” takes inspiration from his traveling spirit and methodologies of working in the public realm.

About the Barbara Lee Lecture Series:

The Barbara Lee Lecture Series is an annual series that features faculty artists during our summer program. During this series, we open our campus to the public, welcoming our friends and neighbors into the conversations that take place at the School. After the summer program, the lectures become part of the Lecture Archive, a growing collection of recordings that can be accessed online or on request.
