Bernarda Shahn, Guest Lecture 1997

In this autobiographical lecture, artist Bernarda Shahn shows a series of photographs and slides of her paintings and frescoes, talking about her various interests rooted in landscape and still life. Shahn also talks about her time as an illustrator which allowed her to develop an ongoing interest in surrealism and a surrealist way of looking. Shahn ends her lecture by reflecting on her long standing relationship to Maine and Skowhegan, and says that for her, being free and liberated will always be important for her as an artist and activist.
