Henry Varnum Poor, Visiting Artist Lecture 1966
Abstract
Artist Henry Varnum Poor delivers an unstructured talk about a variety of topics including pitfalls in lecture-giving; the contemporary art situation and how the School relates to it; the role of the School’s faculty in relation to the participants and the importance of being open to one’s own fresh vision and style. This is followed by slides of the speaker’s work, including paintings, drawings, pottery and ceramics, and architecture, and accompanied by minimal commentary. The questions at the end draw the artist into his autobiography. The sound quality at the end of the lecture is badly degraded.
