You Should Have Seen It is a zine that features recollections of lost or destroyed artwork by eighty-three of Skowhegan’s former participants. Edited by artist Rebecca Shippee, the publication contains four thematic chapters: ‘it was their fault’, ‘it was my fault’, ‘it wasn’t meant to be’, ‘it never was’, as well as four commissioned essays by Chelsea Flowers, Danny Greenberg, Abbey Williams, and Birgit Rathsmann. This publication launch discusses the ephemeral nature of art and the need for preservation by bringing together stories from diverse social contexts and media landscapes.
