Publications and the space of the page offer a field for artistic experimentation and exhibition. Whether through art books as objects that move between galleries, libraries, research, and the bedside table, or zines as DIY, intimate, and immediate publications to test out an idea, books offer a space of exploration and access to artist’s ideas.
Book Meet is an opportunity to see the volume and breadth of printed works by Skowhegan alumni, whose program years span from 1956 to 2018. The convivial event features a talk with artists Ali Fitzgerald about publishing comic books, Josh Graupera who digs into his Philadelphia-based activist zine practice, and Pallavi Sen, moderated by Birgit Rathsmann.
