Block Party:
75th Anniversary

The School celebrates its 75th anniversary with a Block Party in front of Skowhegan NYC, organized by former alumni. 

Outfitted with picnic tables and benches, we will offer live performances including a drag show by Anthropussy and a rotation of live DJ sets by Ashley Teamer. Visitors can view and participate in various site-specific installations: a fully interactive badminton set handmade by kg; an artist interview project over tea by Michele Brody; a durational performance filmed in Bangladesh by Kabir Ahmed Masum Chisty; plastic bag portraits by Nobutaka Aozaki; a modular installation by Maya Hayuk; and a haircut performance by Finn Schultz and Tommy Coleman with Nancy Regan the Roomba. 

Visitors have the opportunity to take photos in front of several newly-commissioned large-scale backdrops by Helen Glazer, Simonetta Moro, Lily Prince, Vabianna Santos, Tricia Townes, and Xander Wrencher. Also displayed along the block is an installation with digitally printed flags by different artists. 

Two limited-edition items are available only at the Block Party: a Costume Party Zine with illustrations by alumni; an enamel pin by Laylah Ali. The performances, and activities are free of charge, and food and drinks are available on a donation basis. You can purchase a $75 ticket to the after-party at The Fleur Room featuring DJ April Hunt.

All proceeds and tickets support the School’s program.
