Wim Delvoye, Visiting Artist Lecture 2004

Artist Wim Delvoye gives a lecture talking about his artistic practice ranging from drawing, painting to photography. Drawing in particular plays an important role for Delvoye, allowing him to explore his relationship to art. Delvoye sees tattooing and body modification as an element of drawing as well, representing his interests in seduction and biology. Delvoye shifts gears and mentions pigs being a symbol that reappears many times throughout his work, representing a need to explore capitalism. Delvoye also works in photography and mentions how photography allows him to think about gender through the symbols of animals and machines. Deloye ends his lecture stating that art is ultimately something that gives prestige to someone.
