William Zorach, Visiting Artist Lecture 1957

Following a short statement on the topic of “What is art?” sculptor William Zorach identifies work by different, named and unnamed, sculptors from slides selected by Sidney Simon and gives his opinion on the works and an occasional anecdote or historical tidbit about each artist. Questions lead him to express his general disdain for non-objective and welded sculpture as decoration or architectural renderings, and to offer advice to the young artists about circumstances around making art and being discovered in the contemporary art world.
