Willard Cummings, Guest Lecture 1963

Abstract

Painter and Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture co-founder Willard Cummings speaks about the early history of the School, beginning with the planning discussions among founding artists during their service in the War Art Unit in World War II. From the first summer, when there were 38 students in attendance, to the early years, devastation by fire, and financial and growing pains, Cummings gives an overview of the first few years. He goes on to show a selection of slides from those early years. The recording of this lecture is not complete.
