Whitfield Lovell, Resident Artist Lecture 2001

Artist Whitfield Lovell talks about his interest in antiques and old photographs which he uses in conjunction with drawings on wood to create installations and tableaux whose subject is the period in African American history between Emancipation and the Civil Rights Movement. The lecture weaves together personal narrative, historical facts, and anecdotes which reveal the artist’s approach to his art.
