Vik Muniz, Visiting Artist Lecture 2001

Using humor in his presentation as well as his art, Brazilian born artist Vik Muniz talks about the trail which led him from a career in advertising to one in the arts. A conscious dichotomy between object and illusion, with an ever present awareness of his audience has been a constant since his earliest work. He shows slides of his work, accompanied by anecdotes and an explanation of his conceptual goals and artistic interests and how successful he felt the pieces were in realizing them, as well as his choice of medium, which varies considerably..
