Suzanne McClelland, Resident Artist Lecture 1999

Artist Suzanne McClelland shows slides of her drawings, paintings and prints and talks about her interest in language, her materials and techniques, other artists who have influenced or interested her, and her relationship with humor (or lack thereof) in her art and that of others. Most of the work shown is word or text-based or inspired by social and political events which the speaker has found disturbing or troubling in some way, particularly news stories about people who are not named and therefore seem deprived of a voice.
