Steve DiBenedetto, Resident Artist Lecture 2019

Steve DiBenedetto gives a lecture at Skowhegan talking about his painting and drawing practice. DiBenedetto talks about the idea to explore ruptured moments and historical cultural conflicts as an entry point into creating his work. DiBenedetto often combines two different resources that he is drawn to in his work to create antidotes that can operate within the trajectory of art history and music, one example being pairing the work of Paul Cezanne with Led Zeppelin. This process has led DiBenedetto to become interested in speed and motion in his paintings, which allow him to also explore a relationship with the viewer where both the artist and the viewer can see speed and motion as something slow.
