Sidney Tillim, Resident Artist Lecture 1992

Artist Sidney Tillim talks about his extensive painting practice over the decades. Tillim is interested in history painting and exploring the everyday lives of Americans. Tillim also shares the work of various artists, talking about his role as an art critic. Tillim speaks to the importance of dichotomies in his work: the heroic and the banal, the figurative and the abstract, the relationships between archival information and early colour illustration. It is many of these ideas which continue to drive Tillim’s work.
