Sidney Goodman, Resident Artist Lecture 1985
Abstract
Sidney Goodman talks about his painting practice, which is rooted in working from photographs and imagination as a way to explore portraiture, representational painting, landscape and autobiography. Goodman tells the participants that what he is interested in does not always reside in photographs, reality or observation of a physical world. Goodman sees realism as a manner in which he is comfortable with and has evolved towards, but it’s not something that is a thing in itself. Goodman is interested in something beyond that.
