Sharon Lockhart, Visiting Artist Lecture 2008

Photographer and filmmaker Sharon Lockhart combines information about the artistic and technical aspects of several photographic and film projects with nostalgic reminiscences about the collaborating artists and the people in front of the camera. Questions at the end of the lecture address her decision-making process; ethical and practical issues inherent in trying to enlist groups of previously unknown people to participate in her projects; and the implications of undertaking artwork that creates a representation of a culture which is not the artist’s own.
