Paul Pfeiffer, Visiting Artist Lecture 2005

Artist Paul Pfeiffer gives a lecture exploring his work as a video artist. Pfeiffer likes how video represents a vernacular, and a language that’s in common use today whether we like it or not. Pfeiffer is interested in working in a language that has an unconscious currency through video. On the other hand, Pfeiffer mentions how video can also be an uncomfortable fit as an art object. He mentions the limitations and pleasures he has of working with video, and how it is ultimately about producing objects made entirely by machine. Pfeiffer ends the lecture focusing on how his photographic work allows him to build archives from which he can create a repository of material to choose from when creating his videos.
