Paul Pfeiffer, Resident Artist Lecture 2010

Artist Paul Pfeiffer shares extensive samples of his video and photographic work and discusses how his meteoric rise to prominence in the Nineties both heralded the entrance of video art as a medium on a par with painting and brought into conflict his desire to maintain his independence as an artist to discover different ways to explore media with the art world’s demands for more of the same type of work. Also addressed in this lecture are the artist’s assertion, challenged by members of the audience, that his work is not about identity politics, and an examination of why the Philippines was the resource he drew on for his production of The Saints.
