Omer Fast, Visiting Artist Lecture 2012

Speaking to an audience at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, artist Omer Fast talks about the circumstances that led him from painting to film while he was enrolled in graduate school; the artistic accident that resulted in an approach to film-making that has been a hallmark of his work; and the various interests that he brings to the films he makes. Questions following the lecture elicit comments about Fast’s relationship, from an ethical point of view, with his subjects; how financial resources affect the work from piece to piece, and a description of a performance piece which shares some of the same characteristics as his cinematic work.
