Neil Goldberg, Resident Artist Lecture 2015

Artist Neil Goldberg shows a series of video work during his Skowhegan lecture. Goldberg talks about his practice which is rooted in the ideas of mortality. Mortality for Goldberg means many things: the strangeness of this, the beauty and horror, and how this can be explored in a variety of ways through a focus on the everyday. Goldberg focuses on mundane moments that don’t matter, how these ideas are manifested everyday in New York, and how they constitute the bulk of our lives. This type of conceptual practice has allowed Goldberg to reflect on what internal experiences look like, and the relationship this has to vulnerability.
