May Stevens, Resident Artist Lecture 1992, Part II
Abstract
May Stevens gives a lecture that is split into two parts. The first part of her lecture shows a series of slides featuring the work of many women artists who have inspired Stevens. The second part of the lecture is a focus on Steven’s own work. Steven shows a series of slides of the work she has made and does a reading. Some of the themes that move Stevens the most to make work are exploring the lives of women, language, words, water, speech, silence, loss, and time. All of these contemplations provide Stevens a way to look at many different vertical intersections in her life as a Women artist and the lives of all women artists who have come before her.
