Abstract

During this 1977 lecture, Martha Diamond shares an array of literary passages that she came across primarily during the previous year and a half, ranging from ancient poetry to contemporary novels. Texts excerpted include: Homer’s The Iliad, a poem by Ron Pagett, Alexandria: A History and A Guide and Howards End by E.M. Forster. Diamond shows slides of works she made during this same period. She also discusses a handful of definitions of different words she is interested in. The audio recording is not accessible, the only remainder of the event are the artist’s preparatory notes.
