Luis Jiménez, Visiting Artist Lecture 1984

Mexican American artist Luis Jiménez talks about his various artistic interests in public works, popular culture, low art, and mythological and religious symbols, particularly in conjunction with two large public commissions for which he shows numerous slides that illustrate the development of the pieces through creation, transportation and on-site assembly. He also speaks at length about a series of work done in collaboration with his daughter, as well as other sculptures, drawings and prints, and answers questions about his materials and techniques, his thoughts on the potential longevity of his work, and how he expects different audiences to experience his art.
