Lucy Raven, Visiting Artist Lecture 2019

Artist and filmmaker Lucy Raven gives a lecture at Skowhegan showing a series of films and slides. Raven is concerned with ideas of how one can be seen through the many fragmented lens of colonialism, power, and state violence. Raven is interested in how these ideas can be related to materials ranging from many different sources she draws from including: the imaginary fantasy of Hollywood to the production of global copper in China and Nevada. Raven ends her lecture in a desire she has to create a horror film that resists a narrative to resolve something and instead focus on one’s daily experiences of horror.
