Lennart Anderson, Resident Artist Lecture 1967

Lennart Anderson gives a lengthy lecture talking about the life and work of the artist Edgar Degas. Anderson uses the influence of Degas to explain to the participants how his source of inspiration as an artist has consistently come from other places, and goes on to talk about how Degas inspired his own painting practice. Anderson goes on to explain how Degas too was an artist who drew on different sources to create his own oeuvre. Anderson then gradually starts talking about his own artistic practice which spans drawing and painting as well. Anderson’s own work includes a combination of portraiture, landscape, and still life painting, also working in both large and small scale canvases and paper. Anderson ends his lecture by urging the participants to try their best to show their work in a global center for contemporary art like New York.
