LaToya Ruby Frazier, Resident Artist Lecture 2015

Artist, art educator and social activist LaToya Ruby Frazier begins her lecture talking about the ways in which her time as a participant at Skowhegan impacted her life, mentioning the many mentors and peers who have influenced and shape her practice and career. Frazier reflects on the various projects she has worked on; the industrial, polluted landscape of her hometown of Braddock, Pennsylvania, the relationship between gender, race, and class structures in the United States, and the need to always reflect on the relationships that merge out of the subjects that Frazer photographs.
