Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel, Special Lecture 1998

Artists Kristen Jones and Andrew Ginzel known as Jones and Ginzel make sculptures and installations rooted in collaboration, urban space, and a longing for nature that can fill empty spaces with the inanimate world, Jones and Ginzel are also interested in creating spiritual and contemplative experiences for viewers by building exterior realities of sculpture to allow people to interact with them in order to look inward. Other ideas that form Jones and Ginzel’s collaborative work are the relationships between permanence and impermanence, the invisible dialogue of political climates, mental stability, the dialogue of unseen forces, and what it is that people seek when they enter into cinematic spaces to escape their lives. Jones and Ginzel end their lecture by reflecting on the importance of creating experiences where people can strip themselves of time sequences and surrender to contemplative works of art.
