Kenneth Callahan, Resident Artist Lecture 1959

In an early lecture at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, painter Kenneth Callahan speaks about pitfalls facing the artist, including how making a living through or apart from one’s art affects that art; the effects of publicity and criticism; influence versus imitation. This is followed by a review of slides of Skowhegan faculty work with minimal commentary and some general remarks on the speaker’s personal philosophy of art.
