Kate Gilmore, Resident Artist Lecture 2012
Abstract
In this interactive presentation before an audience of artists at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Kate Gilmore shows examples of her video work and still images from performances, talks about her interest in materials, color and humor, and explains why she prefers to hire others to perform for her rather than to perform herself, and why in general she finds reenactments and video of live performances to be unsatisfactory. The speaker chooses to continue speaking while the videos are playing, which makes it hard to make out exactly what is being said in many places.
