Judy Pfaff, Resident Artist Lecture 1986

Judy Pfaff gives a lecture at Skowhegan talking about her artistic practice which spans sculpture, installation, drawing, paper mache, printmaking, and painting, to name some of the mediums. Pfaff talks about the issues that concern her work, which includes layering, space, and how one can complicate spaces. For Pfaff, patience is also at the core of how she works. Each piece takes about three months, and Pfaff talks about the importance of always working in a slow, meditative way to make her installations. Labor is another important aspect of Pfaff’s work; working physically with her materials to construct her installations.
