Jon Kessler, Visiting Artist Lecture 2007
Abstract
Kinetic sculptor Jon Kessler talks about his art from early works, to works in progress in terms of its evolution, dead ends, successes and failure, technology, process and conception, pointing out consistent and recurring themes such as the active viewer, the use of found objects, Asian culture, the suspension of disbelief and artificial nature. Particular attention is paid to The Palace at 4 a.m. and the changes that were made to that piece as it was exhibited in different locations. The speaker also talks about his Bozart toy company and window displays for the Maison Hermes in Tokyo.
