John Moore, Resident Artist Lecture 1984

Painter John Moore speaks about painting in general and more practically about the decisions that led him to become an artist. This is followed by a chronological showing of slides of his work, with commentary detailing the artistic problems, mostly around the treatment and effects of light (shadows, transparency, reflection, translucence) he set for himself in each one in an effort to create a naturalistic rendering of his subjects. In several instances he shows less satisfactory treatments of a given subject followed by a final version which pleased him more.
