Italo Scanga, Visiting Artist Lecture 1987

Italian-born artist Italo Scanga gives a slide lecture on his sculptures and installations, drawings, painted and craft pieces (works mostly not identified by title but fully described) which cover a broad spectrum of themes, including social, political and psychological. The lecture is peppered with personal anecdotes, some humorous. During the question and answer period the artist speaks at length about his desire to divorce his work from a narrative approach, group shows done with his students, collaboration, and the role of politics in his art.
