Italo Scanga, Resident Artist Lecture 1990

Italo Scanga gives an autobiographical lecture talking about the many experiences in his life that have shaped him as an artist. Scanga shows slides of his interdisciplinary practice which spans drawing, sculpture and installation. Scanga also talks about working with found material which allows him to think about political histories, patterns of migration, religious iconography, and personal identity. Scanga ends his talk by telling the participants of the beauty that restlessness and distraction can bring. Both can be a wonderful jumping off point for seeking out new ideas.
