Huma Bhabha, Visiting Artist Lecture 2012

In this presentation at the Skowhegan School of Painting & Sculpture, artist Huma Bhabha intersperses images of her own sculptures, assemblages and photogravures with pictures of her birthplace of Karachi, other artists’ work, and monuments and ruins which she feels have influenced her art. While the focus of the lecture is on materials, process, and scale, the questions which follow lead the artist to share her thoughts on the role of politics, figuration versus abstraction, the concept of the “ancient” in her work, and to further discuss her photogravures.
