Guillermo Kuitca, Resident Artist Lecture 2004

Guillermo Kuttica gives a lecture talking about his artistic practice rooted in Painting. Kuttica is interested in creating internal landscapes and using paint as a way to occupy space and explore his relationship to mirrors. For Kuttica, ideas of appropriation and autobiography are also at the root of his conceptual practice. Kuttica draws from themes of maps including roads, streets, and houses to explore the binaries between locations that are familiar and unfamiliar. Working as a theatre director is another part of Kuttica’s practice that he has been invested in. Kuttica tells participants that when one works with so many subjects, they can have an impact on other artists.
