Abstract
Eduardo Navarro gives a lecture talking about his interdisciplinary artist practice. Eduardo shares with the participants how his need to create art comes from a desire to create an experience where one can allow something to transform themselves from within. That desire has more meaning than the mechanism of being paid for or exhibiting art. Navarro talks about his experience with meditation and how that inspired him to truly inhabit other creatures or ways of being. Navarro talks about his collaborative work with nature, animals, his surrounding landscapes, and with other performers. The transformation creates a synchronicity that is visible over time. Navarro then talks about his drawing practice, stating how he has always found clairvoyance in the practice. Navarro describes releasing art into the world as like having children: you cannot control what the art will do while trying to protect it. Navarro also discusses the release of work for interpretation by others. He states that once a work has a life of its own, it takes pressure off of him. For Navarro, art is synched to an energy that is pre-human, which allows him to let go of human consciousness completely.
