Donald Moffett, Resident Artist Lecture 2004

Abstract

Artist Donald Moffett gives a lecture talking about his interdisciplinary practice which allows him to believe in the importance of defeating specificities of media. Moffett states that content for him represents a rumination that is a reflection of the sloppy history of liberation. Moffett also explores his relationship to the monochrome, specifically being a tool to free the artist and viewer. Moffett talks about his process of creating projections onto paintings as a way to extend the history of painting. This technique allows Moffett to explore the history of video art and play with the relationship between video light and light sources from paintings.
