David Driskell, Guest Lecture 1991

Artist David Driskell shares personal experiences and thoughts related to art and social justice, particularly in regards to gender and race in the art world. These experiences began with his summer at Skowhegan, when, after working with Jack Levine, he returned to college determined to be a social commentary artist, and continued into his work as a curator and as the first Black chairman of the Art Department at the University of Maryland. The artist also shows slides of his work and his homes and gardens.
