David Diao, Visiting Artist Lecture 2015

Artist David Diao talks about his long term practice as a painter. Diao talks about the influence of iconic photographs from the Russian Avant Garde which have informed his work, as well as his ongoing interest in Art history and pop culture. Diao also reflects on the many painters who have inspired him, particularly Barnett Newman. For Diao, his career as an artist has taught him to think about how value is established in the art world, what we should strive to work towards, and to know that artists will have bad years and good years throughout their trajectory.
