Daphne Cummings and Bill Holmes, Special Lecture 2011
Abstract
Daphne Cummings and Bill Holmes give a lecture together at Skowhegan talking about the history of the school. They talk about the founders of the school, and the vision that Skowhegan rests on; which is to create a place where art education could foster and where participants could come to become artists. Cummings and Holmes also talked about how fresco was started by Bill Cummings and Henry Varnum Poor, and how the history of the farm dates back to 1792. Cummings and Holmes go into detail about the history of the town of Madison and Skowhegan, the application process of the program and how each class was created, and conclude their lecture by answering questions from faculty and participants.
