Bill Adams, Resident Artist Lecture 2004
Abstract
Artist Bill Adams gives a lecture about his artistic practice, drawing from sources that influence his work including music, film, and television. Adams also talks about his experiences being a Skowhegan participant in 1980, growing up in New York City and going to school in Southern California where he was heavily influenced by Chris Burden and Barnett Newman. Throughout the lecture, Adams shows a series of paintings where he talks about his concerns exploring the dynamic relationship between audiences and viewers. Adams is interested in how his paintings create a contact between figures, and the importance the figures play in his paintings to stare back at the viewer.
