Betty Woodman, Resident Artist Lecture 2002
Abstract
Ceramics artist Betty Woodman discusses her education in functional pottery that eventually led her to a career as an artist. Works shown include pottery, ceramics, installations, prints and clay drawings (terrasse gelata). Audience questions lead her to talk about a broad range of topics, including the distinction between functional objects and art, clay as a political art medium, the issue of borrowing motifs from other artists and cultures, and additional explanation of her clay drawings.
