Andrew Tavarelli, Resident Artist Lecture 1990

Andrew Tavarelli gives a lecture focusing on his painting and drawing practice. Tavarelli’s paintings consist of many different subject matters including landscape, still life, and monochromes. His work is inspired by autobiography, personal narratives and travel. Many of Tavarelli’s works have been inspired by the vast places he has visited ranging from Asia, Europe and all over the Americas. In his work, Tavarelli is interested in implementing a lot of triptychs and diptychs and exploring scale which allows him to lose the rationality of the images he is working from. This allows for an organic process to unfold where new ideas can be found.
