Allen Ruppersberg, Resident Artist Lecture 2001

In a slide presentation which focuses on more recent work, artist Allen Ruppersberg speaks of the importance of the idea over the art object, and how this concept has freed him from being tied to any single medium or signature type work. He discusses individual works in depth, including the overall concept, descriptions of the pieces, and audience interaction. Near the end of the lecture he speaks at length about the the type of drawing he prefers in his own work and what drawing means to him in his art. In response to a question he talks about the beginnings of Conceptualism and its relation to Surrealism.
