Alexis Smith, Resident Artist Lecture 1990

Only a small portion of this lecture by Alexis Smith remains, as the original audio was damaged. In what is left the speaker talks about the two stylistic features which have been a sort of enduring signature in her work over time, regardless of medium: a narrative structure with text and a preoccupation with found objects. She then introduces her slides, making reference to long sequential paper collages and sculptural installations which she refers to as room-size environments. The narrative is interrupted during the second slide.
