Vámonos Pa’l Monte
Vámonos Pa’l Monte is a neighborhood-based, interdisciplinary performance by artist Wanda Raimundi-Ortiz, commissioned by Mural Arts Philadelphia and designed by Kristina Tollefson. A living tribute to Puerto Rican culture and resilience, it explores migration, memory, and belonging across the diaspora. Raimundi-Ortiz draws from her experience as the daughter of Puerto Ricans who migrated to New York City during the Second Great Migration, while remaining connected to the island. Culminating two years of community immersion in PR and Philadelphia, the procession moves from Philadelphia’s colonial symbolism toward the neighborhood-centered, communal voice of Norris Square’s Puerto Rican community.
