Sung Hwan Kim, Resident Artist Lecture 2019
Abstract
Artist Sung Hwan Kim shows a series of film screenings and participates in an intimate conversation with the participants. His video work touches upon many ideas which include his relationship to South Korea, architecture, culture, and language formation. Kim probes at the question of asking what people are observing when they spend time with a work of art through the most basic of intuitions. Kim seeks to find signifiers of how people perform bodily reactions when looking for something in a story. This methodology of working has led Kim to see the world being built as a structure that is nurturing and full of posterity.
