Jeff Koons, Visiting Artist Lecture 2004

Abstract

In this autobiographical lecture, Jeff Koons draws on stories of childhood, family histories and his past which have informed his work as an interdisciplinary artist. Koons talks about the need for artists to embrace their history, always trust their work and follow their intuition. Only when artists do this can new ideas be revealed. Koons specifically mentions the medium of working in stainless steel, and how it is tied to ideas of moral responsibility, social mobility and economic gestures for him as an artist.
