Jane Hammond, Resident Artist Lecture 1992
1 of 5
Abstract
Using recent work as examples, artist Jane Hammond shows how she uses a palette limited to four colors and black and white along with a lexicon of 276 found images distilled from various bits of information she has collected in her life to create oil paintings which explore subjects like alchemy, magic, dreams, psychology, pornography, women’s issues, and the artist’s personal history. She also discusses experiments with rule based works.
